Lori J. Egol, M.S., CCC-SLP, TSSLD

Lori is a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in the state of New York and Connecticut and holds a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certificate. She received a Masters of Science in Communication Disorders in 2011 from Mercy College, NY where she graduated with distinction as a member of the Alpha ETA Society.

Lori graduated from Binghamton University with a BA in Literature-Rhetoric in 1991. She enjoyed and was challenged with a successful business career that began in sales and led to management for a national plastic distribution company.

After taking time to raise her children, Lori returned to school to obtain a Masters in Communication Disorders at Mercy College. Her training included two externships: the first in the Pelham School District where she worked alongside the SLPs, teachers and school psychologists, led a social communications group for children with autism, and evaluated and treated junior and senior high school students with language disabilities. In her second externship at Jacobi Hospital, she focused on patients with disorders such apraxia, dysarthria, aphasia, and cognitive/pragmatic deficits. These distinct settings allowed Lori to develop a breadth of valuable knowledge regarding the communication disorders prevalent in both the adult and pediatric populations.

For the past eleven years, Lori has worked with children (birth through high-school) with language disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities (LD), speech sound disorders, hearing impairment, and developmental delays. She has evaluated and treated children with difficulties in articulation, phonological skills, expressive/receptive language, fluency, language processing, pre-literacy and literacy skills, pragmatic skills, and writing. Lori has practiced as an independent contractor and private practitioner and treated clients in their homes, pre-schools, public/ private schools, and remotely. Lori has delivered services in accordance with students’ IEPs, attended annual review meetings, and advocated for her students. Additionally, during her time in practice, Lori served as the primary SLP in a local private school where she screened and treated students and collaborated with the director of developmental learning, teachers, reading specialists, the school’s psychologist, and parents.

Lori loves her profession, her ability to work with children and their families, and to make a difference in their lives!
